MONCTON, N.B. — The Moncton Wildcats will be without their head coach for the time being.

Following their 5-4 loss to the Cape Breton Eagles on Sunday, the Wildcats announced that John Torchetti has taken a leave of absence from the team for personal reasons.

Torchetti, who wasn't on the Wildcats bench in Sydney, has spent the past two years as the head coach of Moncton's Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team.

Prior to accepting a job with the Wildcats, he was an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Wildcats say they will not comment further on Torchetti's leave of absence.
