Three ties and a loss for Newfoundland on Day 1 of Atlantic U13, U14 championships

Newfoundland and Labrador teams came away with three ties in four games on Thursday, the opening day of play in Atlantic under-13 and under-14 soccer championships.

In Corner Brook, Newfoundland’s U14 boys played to a scoreless draw against New Brunswick. In the boys U13 event, also being held in Corner Brook, Newfoundland lost 3-2 to New Brunswick, with Anderson Pritchard and Nick Jones scoring for the home province.

Thee U13 and U14 girls Atlantics are being held in Charlottetown, P.E.I., where Newfoundland came away with 1-1 ties against Prince Edward Island teams on Thursday.

Jessie Ball scored for the NL U13s and Brianna Gilmore tallied for the U14s.

Play in all four competitions continues today and Saturday, leading to medal games Sunday.

Games are being streamed on Bell TV1.
