GLOVERTOWN, NL – With 17 players to Central’s 11, the Tri Pen Ice bantam hockey girls outscored the Central Ice Pak 3-1 for a bronze medal win last Saturday at Glovertown Gardens.
It was the second win for Tri Pen in a first-to-three championship. As was the case with midget hockey the same day, the gold medal games were played between the higher ranked teams from Eastern and Western.
The Ice Pak lost ground early, giving up two goals in period one by Tri Pen’s Tianna Ryan and Jordan Chaulk. The Ice Pak scored at the end of the first period thanks to Mackenzie Andrews but were scored on again by Mackenzie Balsom in period two.
Despite a pulled goalie from Central for the last two minutes of play, neither team was able to score again.
Grand Fall-Windsor’s Lexie Small took home Central’s Player of the Game.
