ARNOLD'S COVE, N.L. — Tricentia Academy hosted an annual volleyball tournament on Feb. 23 in Arnold’s Cove, to remember a former teacher at the school.
The Kerry Clarke Invitational Volleyball Tournament is held in honour of Kerry Clarke, a teacher at Tricentia who passed away in 2010.
Clarke left a legacy through the sports program at the school, fondly remembered as a great teacher, coach and friend to all.
This year, eight teams attended the tournament, including a squad coached by Clarke’s daughter Kaitlin.
The teams had great competition through the tournament with many close games.
The tier 2 final came down to the Tricentia 15U team playing Ascension Collegiate of Bay Roberts.
After a well-played match, Tricentia won in straight sets with scores of 25-16 and 25-23.
The Tier 1 final saw the host Tricentia Senior A volleyball team taking on the Heritage Huskies of Lethbridge in a close, hard fought match.
Tricentia won the tier 1 title with a final score of 25-22 and 25-15.
The medals were presented to the athletes in each tier by Clarke's daughter Kaitlin and wife Kathleen.
