CENTRAL NEWFOUNDLAND: Arctic high battles Texas low for snow!
A weather warning is now in effect. Click here to view all affected communities.
The weather set-up is fascinating today. There is, quite obviously, a cold high sitting over the region and on the western edge of that high, a developing area of low pressure. Cold air is heavy and hard to move so the high will create a blocking pattern over the eastern half of Atlantic Canada. As the snowmaker pushes into the ridge late tonight, a secondary low will develop offshore, allowing for a little more snow over western Nova Scotia tomorrow. All that clears as the week wraps up but don’t store your shovel away just yet. I’m watching another developing system that will bring snow and a changeover to rain late Sunday into Monday.
